What is the VTVLC?

The Vermont Distance Learning Cooperative (VTVLC) provides K-12 programs and courses in a wide variety of subject areas for a variety of clients by developing specific partnerships with Vermont’s schools, teachers and organizations. The following examples are provided to allow a greater understanding of how the organization accommodates various types of student access to these programs.

Example 1: Partnering Schools

Vermont schools that provide a contribution to the Cooperative to cover administrative costs (i.e. recruitment, LMS oversight, technical assistance, professional development, etc.) and provide at least one qualified instructor that teaches a program or course that is offered by VTVLC will earn 25 seats in the total offerings of the Cooperative for that school year. Partnering schools will be allowed to have “in-house” students in the offered course(s) originating from their location with the understanding that the total class size will not exceed 25 student participants for both in-house and online students. There will be no tuition costs for the students of a partnering school.

Example 2: Non-partnering Vermont Schools

Students of Vermont schools that are not members in the Cooperative may enroll students in programs and/or courses offered by VTVLC after the priority enrollment date (currently June 1st) with the understanding that the tuition will be assessed to their district in the amount of $300 per semester for a 1 credit course. Tuition for AP courses is $350 per semester. Half-credit courses which run for one semester will be billed at the rate of $400.

Example 3: Non-partnering, Non-Vermont Schools

Non-Vermont Schools and organizations may enroll students in programs and/or courses offered by the VTVLC after the priority enrollment date (currently June 1st) on a space available basis and will be charged tuition in the amount of $350 per semester for a 1 credit course. Tuition for AP courses is $400 per semester. Half-credit courses which run for one semester will be billed at the rate of $450.

Example 4: Summer School and Credit Recovery Programs

VTVLC will contract directly with Vermont certified teachers to provide summer school learning recovery and credit recovery options for students. Current tuition for this program is $150 for a standard four-week session and $225 for the extended six-week session. Please see the current information available on our Virtual Summer School page.
