Home Study Option 1: Teacher Facilitated
The teacher facilitated option allows you to enroll your child in VTVLC courses with a Vermont licensed teacher, who also holds the Online Teaching Specialist endorsement. You may enroll your child in either (or a combination of) Traditional or Flex enrollment courses.
There are two different ways in which the fees can be covered. You can ask for support from the local school or pay out of pocket.
1.) Ask for Support
In accordance with the Vermont Agency of Education’s Memorandum dated April 2014, all schools are encouraged to support home study students who request access to VTVLC programs.
In order to request this support, the VTVLC Home Study Enrollment Support Release Form must be filled out by the home study parent and approved by the local school administrator.
If in cooperation with local school, up to 40% (2 credits) is allowed and still considered home study as part of the provisions available to home study students under Act 119.
1.) Complete Home Study Enrollment Release Form (For Vermont residents only)
2.) Submit form to the local school your child would attend if he/she attended public school
3.) Return form to VTVLC
4.) Have your child create their student account (your guardian account will be created during this process)
5.) Register for courses!
It is the responsibility of the home study parent to return the completed form to VTVLC prior to the course start dates. See the VTVLC Academic Calendar for Traditional enrollment start dates. On Demand courses begin on the 1st and 15th of each month. Registration and paperwork must be submitted 7 days prior to the start date for On Demand.
2.) Pay Out Of Pocket
If the school your child would attend is not willing to support the cost of enrollment for VTVLC courses, you have the option to pay out of pocket for VTVLC courses.
If you are paying out of pocket, there is no limit on the number of courses you enroll your child in to still be considered home study. Simply include the use of VTVLC courses as part of the plan you submit to the Vermont Agency of Education.
1.) Have your child create their student account (your guardian account will be created during this process)
2.) Register for courses
3.) Submit payment through our Student Information System online portal, Maestro (accessible through your guardian account)
