If you haven’t heard yet, VTVLC is finalizing a major systems update, readying to launch the first week in August 2016. We’ve learned alot over the last several years providing online course options for Vermont’s students. This change gives us an opportunity to position ourselves to support the new educational opportunities for students for years to come.

Our new system includes the ability to not only provide a more traditional looking grade report, but also provide a Learning Mastery Gradebook. This new tool will provide teachers the ability to assess student mastery for specific standards and evaluate their proficiency using a rubric.

So how is mastery determined? Mastery is not a one-time thing. We require students to be able to demonstrate (at least 5-times and in multiple ways) that they are proficient. This is then aggregated in the Learning Mastery Gradebook.
