NEW On-Demand Courses for 2025-2026

This year, VTVLC is offering a wealth of new on-demand courses.

We have new opportunities for middle schoolers to access the courses they need with our new Fitness Foundations, Beginning Spanish, and Intermediate Spanish courses designed for middle schoolers. Our career exploration courses will help students discover the perfect path for their future, while our career-ready courses in education and child development can assist students who have already determined their career goals. Plus, we’ve added to our collection of exciting electives with courses like Interior Design.

With all these offerings available as on-demand courses, students can enroll in these courses throughout the year and finish within six months, meaning students can enroll on a rolling basis whenever they’re ready to start and customize their pace to fit their unique schedule and needs.

Career Foundations I

How do you pick a career path when you’re not sure what’s even out there? This course allows you to begin exploring options in fields such as teaching, business, government, hospitality, health science, IT, and more! You’ll align your interests, wants, and needs to career possibilities, including the required education for each. Let’s find a pathway that works for you.

Career Founations II

Your future career is likely something you’ve dreamed about since you were a child. Now it’s time to turn that dream into a reality! In this course, you will explore your own strengths, interests, and preferences and use that information to uncover the best career for you! You will explore 17 career clusters, learn about the skills needed to work in different industries, and choose a path to pursue. You’ll build a plan to get you from high school to your first day on the job, and craft a strong portfolio to land your perfect job. You’ve dreamed about your future career. Now it’s time to create a plan and turn that dream into a goal!

Child Development

If you’re considering a career in education, medicine, or psychology, or areas that involve toddlers to teens, you’ll need to know how they grow and develop. In this course, you will learn about the ages from womb through adolescence and the teen years. You’ll explore essential topics like nature vs. nurture, developmental theories and stages, nutrition, safety precautions, family planning, and more! Let’s get started learning!

Early Childhood Education

Are you curious to see what it takes to educate and nurture early learners? Use your curiosity to explore the fundamentals of childcare, like nutrition and safety, but also the complex relationships caregivers have with parents and their children. Examine the various life stages of child development and the best educational practices to enrich their minds while thinking about a possible future as a childcare provider!

Fitness Foundations

Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a fitness rookie, learning about your health will help you level up! In this course, you will explore your health influences, try out a wide variety of activities, and apply cutting-edge principles of nutrition, safety, and the body in motion to your fitness journey. You will also design your own fitness program based on personal goals with expert guidance so you can put your health plans into action! It’s time to take your personal fitness to the next level!

Beginning Spanish

Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Spanish language and the richness of its diverse cultures. In the Spanish I course, you will learn basic grammar and vocabulary skills to help build your fluency and language proficiency. You will explore the culture of Spanish-speaking countries through engaging interactive games, videos, and audio recordings and apply what you learn through written practice, listening, and speaking exercises.

Intermediate Spanish

In the MJ Spanish Intermediate course, you’ll continue learning grammar and vocabulary skills to help build basic fluency and language proficiency. You’ll explore more of the culture of Spanish-speaking countries through engaging interactive games, videos, and audio recordings and apply what you learn through written practice, listening, and speaking exercises.

Social Problems I: A World in Crisis

Do you dream of a better world? Do you ever wonder how you can contribute to positive change? Whether you’re passionate about solving larger problems in society or promoting better solutions to improve the outcome for a few, this is the course for you. By becoming a social scientist, you’ll learn how to recognize and call attention to social problems. From issues surrounding mass media, poverty, health, education, our justice system, the environment, and more, you’ll learn how to acquire and assess information so you can seek solutions and advocate for real change regarding the societal challenges that mean the most to you. After all, we only have one world; why not strive to make it a better place?

Sociology 1
