All these courses are offered with rolling enrollment, so the dates to get started are completely flexible – students begin learning whenever they’re ready to get started. Let’s dive in!

Accounting

Accounting is more than numbers and spreadsheets; it’s about unlocking the secrets of financial success and understanding how to drive a company forward. The individual who understands business finances holds sway in the organization. From decoding financial statements to mastering corporate ethics, real-world scenarios expose students to accounting principles and provide opportunities to apply their knowledge. Whether they’re exploring if accounting aligns with their career aspirations, or they dream of becoming an entrepreneur and want to gain a deeper understanding of managing the “books”, this course will empower students to navigate accounting and make excellent decisions.

Computer Programming with Python

Computer Programming with Python introduces students to one of the most popular programming languages in the world while empowering them to create their own video games and interactive programs. Students use Python to make drawings, a game of mad-libs, a choose-your-own-adventure game, and games with lots of graphics, including a final project that they can design themselves. Along the way, students will learn about variables, string manipulation, and functions, as well as conditional and iterative code.

Students completing the class will gain an introductory understanding of Python programming and skills in computational thinking, including practice in abstraction, algorithms, decomposition, pattern recognition, and generalization. Students will persevere to work through problems and work independently as they read and watch videos to learn concepts and complete projects. No previous programming skills are required, but students should have basic computer skills, including using a web browser, managing files, and using email.

Cyber Security

We depend more on the technologies we interact with every day, and we put more and more of our personal data out there online. Can all of that data really be kept “secret”? In Cybersecurity, students learn about the various parts of a computer, how they work together, and how they can manipulate them to keep their data safe. Along the way, students will dive into the tools, technologies, and methods that help protect them from attacks and discover the many opportunities in the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity.

Sports and Entertainment Marketing

For students who have daydreamed about working with a celebrity entertainer, this course offers the opportunity to explore basic marketing principles and delve deeper into the multi-billion-dollar sports and entertainment marketing industry. They’ll learn about how professional athletes, sports teams, and well-known entertainers are marketed as commodities, how things work behind the scenes of a major sporting event such as the Super Bowl, and become acquainted with the fundamentals of a sports and entertainment marketing career.

Veterinary Science

As animals play an increasingly important role in our lives, scientists have sought to learn more about their health and well-being. Taking a look at the pets that live in our homes, on our farms, and in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, this course examines some of the common diseases and treatments for domestic animals. Toxins, parasites, and infectious diseases impact not only the animals around us, but at times…we humans as well! In Veterinary Science, students study and apply the principles of disease prevention and treatment.
